The Red Deer

The Red Deer : kindness, gentleness and innovation.

The Red Deer is the largest land mammal in Western Europe and has been given symbolic meanings in many cultures. The antlers that they wear refer to the tree of life, the life that continues to renew itself. The Red Deer has traditionally been associated with the cycle of nature, with ruin and resurrection.
Older deer lose their antlers during the last winter months, with younger animals this usually takes place in March or April. After that, the new antler starts growing and is fully grown around July. In August, the bark skin starts to itch and the males remove it by sanding it alongside branches and tree trunks. This gives the new antlers the chance to develop further.
The deer is one of the many court symbols, it is the Germanic sun beast, the emblem of pure justice and honesty.
